Madrid is now giving free rides on the subway to pet dogs (provided they’re muzzled with a leash). In an announcement in Euro Weekly News, it was the online campaigns and petitions that resulted in such good news for our canine friends.
There are restrictions. The leash must be less than 20 inches long and the freebie is only available in non-peak hours. July and August is a total free zone as well as weekends and bank holidays. And sadly, it’s only one dog at a time. How cruel!
Spain now joins the list of European countries that allow dogs on local trains, including Italy, England, and Norway.
It’s one small step for Spanish dogs, one giant step for dogkind.
