So you had a craving for avocados and you went out and bought a bunch. Now you just have to wait a couple days for them to ripen, right? Wrong! Here’s a simple trick to ripen an avocado in just 10 minutes…
To get started all you need is a baking sheet, tinfoil, and an unripe avocado. How does it work?
Wrap the avocado in the foil and place it on the baking sheet. The put the sheet in the oven at 200°F for 10 minutes (or until it’s soft). If it’s a super rock hard one it may take 30 minutes or more to “ripen.” Then remove it from the oven and put it in the fridge to cool.
The secret to this trick, apparently, is the ethylene gas that the avocado produces. Usually it’s released slowly over time but once wrapped in the tinfoil it surrounds the fruit and accelerates the ripening process. Try it… it works!
