Web magazine Wisegeek conducted a study of 71 different foods each proportioned to 200 calories. Things like peanut butter, canned beans, fruits, veggies, and even soda. Then they photographed the results.
These pictures give a new context to numbers that might have seemed meaningless on a nutritional label. Most critically, it allows one to size up a food in a way they have never done it before.
According to L.S. Wynn, one of the authors of the study, “… the U.S. Department of Agriculture, the average adult needs to consume about 2000 – 2500 Calories to maintain their weight. In other words, you have a fixed amount of Calories to ‘spend’ each day; based on the following pictures, which would you eat?”
