< Vol 1.1 of People We Love : Changemakers Celebrated>
There aren’t many things in the world worse than being homeless.
The trouble is that donations don’t help people stop being homeless.
They just temporarily alleviate the misery until the money runs out.
That’s what Alex Stephany aims to change.
He launched Beam, a company which crowd funds for training for homeless people.
The idea is simple. If you give people skills that they can sell, they will take care of themselves.
Thus, Alex hopes to harness the power of the sharing economy to make the world a better place.
He’s been backed by the Mayor Of London and Nesta, financially and has the support of 10+ charities with the operations too.
Ending homelessness is a worthy ideal and this mission is reporting some success already.
We hope that all our readers have somewhere to lay their head though we’d encourage you to reduce your footprint and opt for a tiny home.
You might even consider giving a bee a home in your backyard too.
