Beacon’s Closet
We think any thrifter in the city will mention Beacon’s Closet as one of the best thrift stores in NYC.
They have four locations which means you can easily get to one of their thrift shops and we like that they mix it up with vintage pieces, designer labels, and vintage and modern clothing.
This is the kind of place that led us to become thrifting addicts (see our confessions of a thrift store addict to find out more).

Laced Up
Secondhand clothing with a focus on streetwear is what Laced Up is all about and it’s a great thrift store with a ton of locations across the city.
If you want a pair of sneakers that’s do die for, this is the place to find it and you can also get some amazing finds in skatewear and caps.

If you don’t mind paying a premium then you’ll find a huge selection of designer goods in this pick of our best thrift stores.
Now, that doesn’t mean you’ll be ripped off, we’ve got friends who picked up a Prada purse here for under $10!
It just means they aim high-end and sometimes the prices reflect that.

Buffalo Exchange
One-off the biggest names in vintage shops in the country is Buffalo Exchange and as you might expect they have some of their vintage stores in NYC too.
There are 6 locations to choose from and if you want a vintage clothing store with a huge range of women’s clothing, in particular, to choose from, you can’t go wrong here.

Tired Thrift
This vintage shop offers unique vintage clothing from the early 2000s and late 90s.

L Train Vintage
There are many vintage stores in Brooklyn but only the L Train Vintage has 8 different locations all dotted around the Brooklyn Grey Subway Line.
They are good thrift stores for high-quality items and they restock every location on a thrice-weekly basis.
If you visit each of their thrift shops, in turn, you will find that they all offer a unique experience. Stores in New York aren’t about homogeneity, they’re about allowing you to express yourself.

Cure Thrift Shop
If you’re in New York, you’ll want to visit the East Village and when you visit the East Village? You have to investigate the Cure Thrift Shop.
This is the only store in New York that is dedicated to raising funds for diabetes (particularly juvenile diabetes) and its founder is also heavily involved in advocacy across New York and a broader area to raise awareness of this condition.

Crossroads Trading
Crossroads Trading entered the New York market in the early 90s when everyone in New York was discovering the power of the secondhand purchase.
Now? They still sell secondhand items but they do so from multiple locations across the city and they buy items too, which means you can get cash or store credit every time you empty out your wardrobe.

Ever bought your clothing by the pound? Well, you can at Flamingo’s if you want and it can save you a small fortune.
They also do a cool mystery box full of curated pieces (for cheap) just call ahead of time, pick the category and size and they’ll do the rest.
