But if you want to be 100% certain of a great tasting chip, with the right mouthfeel that’s 100% vegan, check our list of our top picks when it comes to vegan chips. You’ll be glad that you did!

Garden of Eatin’ Mini Yellow Rounds Corn Tortilla Chips

EDITOR’S CHOICE

A company based on using wholly organic ingredients can’t be wrong and these chips are great!

Kettle Brand Sea Salt Potato Chips

BEST VALUE CHOICE

They keep things simple at Kettle, just potatoes, oil and sea salt and they’re delicious.

Doritos Tortilla Chips

TOP RATED CHOICE

Some of the additives aren’t great but overall you can’t beat the taste of spicy sweet chili Doritos!

Garden of Eatin’ Mini Yellow Rounds Corn Tortilla Chips

If you enjoy a corn chip then you can’t do any better than the Garden of Eatin’ Mini Yellow Rounds Corn Tortilla Chips, we defy you to open them and not finish the packet.

We feel that these chips match the ethics of being vegan more than some of the big-name brands too.

QUICK FACT

Garden of Eatin’s chips are all certified as organic and, in fact, the company was founded on the use of organic blue corn in their blue corn chips.

PROS

1. Wonderfully tasty chips that keep you going back for more
2. They are certified kosher and 100% organic too

CONS

1. The texture isn’t quite as nice as some other types of chip
2. They are a bit expensive

Kettle Brand Potato Chips

If you want a simple chip then you want the Kettle Brand Potato Chips

There’s nothing here to interfere with the potato.

They fry them oil and then douse them in sea salt and they’re delicious for it. They have a light and crispy texture which we’re told results in a healthier chip.

Their salt and vinegar potato chips are great too only the tangy bite is a bit much for some.

We’re also fans of their boldest barbecue chips, their jalapeno chips, their cheddar chips (which have a real sharp cheddar taste), we just wish they had cheese and onion kettle chips and our lives would be complete.

QUICK FACT

The oil they use is completely free of trans fats and is kosher too, however, they do use more oil than in some other crisps which can unsettle a sensitive stomach.

PROS

1. These crisps are solidly delicious and made in the USA too
2. They’re kosher, non-GMO and use entirely natural ingredients

CONS

1. Some customers feel they have too much salt on them
2. They’re more oily than other chips

Doritos Tortilla Chips

The second biggest brand name in our lineup is Doritos and we know they’re a big vegan favorite.

Sadly, they’re also the chips with the most dodgy ingredients too including MSG, sugar and a bunch of preservatives we can’t spell but they are vegan and they are super tasty.

Doritos spicy sweet chili are among the most delicious chips that we’ve ever tasted. The spice makes these sweet chips sing, nobody said a vegan chip had to be boring, right?

QUICK FACT

You need to be aware that these crisps also contain soy and may contain gluten due to the use of wheat in their production.

PROS

1. 100% vegan
2. The spicy sweet chili flavor is to die for (or they’d never have made our list), spicy chips for the win!

CONS

1. They’re quite expensive for what they are
2. They seem to be thinner than they used to bet

Sabritones Chile & Lime Puffed Wheat Snacks

We like these Sabritones which are based on a traditional Mexican puffed snack which results in smoky and sweet wheat chips. They have a delicious taste that really resonates with our taste buds.

These can be a good alternative to a potato chip, rice chips or corn chips.

We found that Sabritones Chile & Lime Puffed Wheat Snacks reminded us of pork rinds while remaining completely vegan and that’s awesome, if only they weren’t so fattening, we’d eat them all the time.

QUICK FACT

This product like many chips is made by the food giant Frito-Lay but the Sabritones line is a relative newcomer to their portfolio.

PROS

1. They are very reminiscent of pork rinds but are made of puffed wheat which is vegan
2. They’re super tasty and more-ish

CONS

1. Hard to find in retail stores in some locations
2. Not everyone wants to eat wheat products

Lay’s Classic Potato Chips

Is it possible to have a round up of the best vegan chips or chips of any kind without the world famous Lay’s Classic Potato Chips putting in an appearance?

We like to check out their sour cream options rather than their spicy chips because a vegan chip is the only way we can eat “sour cream”.

They are not the most healthy chips but this is snack food and it’s certainly better for you than taco bell, right?

QUICK FACT

Just like the Kettle Chips these are simplicity itself. They contain only potatoes, oil and salt.

PROS

1. A classic chip with a classic taste that everyone loves
2. They tailor the potato sizes to the bag sizes in the factory

CONS

1. Sometimes you get a bit too much oil in the packet
2. The price can go up and down a lot with this item

Final Thoughts On Vegan Chips

These are absolute favorites when it comes to vegan chips. We’d be willing to bet there are at least a couple on there that everyone loves.

There are plenty of other options out there for vegan chips including sweet potato, original corn chops, sun chips, Popchips sea salt potato, Zapp’s voodoo potato chips, Salsitas spicy salsa flavored, tangy buffalo wing Pringles and more, but the chips above are just, for us, the best of the best.

We also enjoy eating these chips with our favorite vegan cheese brands, so yummy!

Of course, we’d be remiss in acknowledging that while the occasional pack of chips won’t hurt anyone – they’re aren’t completely healthy and they can contain acrylamide and cause cavities

So, enjoy them but be sparing. It will make them taste all the better, when you do.
