Bees are essential to life on earth. Without them there would be almost no plants. Bees are nature’s engine of fertilization.
We’re big fans of all things bee related so we were excited to hear about Buzz Kill.
Buzz Kill is the winner of the 2020 Yale Environment Video Contest.
The Yale Environment 360 Video Contest honors the year’s best environmental films, with the aim of recognizing work that has not previously been widely seen. Entries for 2020 were received from six continents, with a prize of $2,000 going to the first-place winner.
A Bee’s Life
This incredible video takes you through a bee’s life in glorious 360-degree perspective. It shows the importance bee’s play in our environment.
It shows the horror that humanity has unleashed upon bees and their habitats across the world.
Most of all, it puts the question of honeybees – the most talked about group of bees – aside and opts to focus on native bees.
Native Bees Are Our Bees
Then, it demonstrates why the business of busing in honeybees to help with pollination isn’t achieving the objectives that it should for native bees.
These “invader” bee species out compete our native bees and they are driven extinct.
This is a problem because as we recently learned depending on honeybees alone is a foolish strategy.
A single disease might wipe them out forever.
If you love bees, why not keep your own?
