Our CBD Oil Buying Guide is a short, easy read on how to make smarter decisions when buying CBD Oil.

More and more people are turning to CBD oil to help with their general health and to address specific health problems.

That’s because CBD oil is proving to be something of a “wonder drug.”

So let’s look at how you can make an effective purchase of CBD Oil as a Mom.

This guide will get you right up to speed quickly. Enjoy.

CBD Oil Buying Guide

The Basics Of CBD Oil

CBD oil stands for cannabidiol oil. Cannabidiol oil is a component of marijuana.

However, it is only one component of marijuana and CBD Oil contains no THC which is the active ingredient in marijuana that gets you high/stoned.

However, it’s important to note that you may still fail a blood test for THC when using CBD oil – so, if your job requires testing you might want to avoid CBD oil.

CBD oil is 100% legal in all states of the United States for purchase and consumption. This is in stark contrast to marijuana products which have varying legality throughout the union.

How Does It Work?

CBD works with the body’s endocannabinoid system (ECS) which processes the cannabinoids, similar chemicals to CBD, that occur naturally in our bodies.

This helps influence our body to work in a way that can reduce inflammation, pain and other nerve related issues.

It does not, however, bind directly to the ECS (which THC does) so you won’t get high on CBD oil.

For that, just smoke a joint and read An Introduction to the Endogenous Cannabinoid System. It was written by a really smart dude from the US National Library of Medicine.

Top 10 Benefits of CBD Oil For Moms (and Dads)

The best reasons to buy CBD oil are for the numerous benefits it delivers to humans.

Here are the ten super benefits that you are going to love:

01

It Relieves Stress

If there’s a mom on earth who isn’t dealing with at least a little stress – we haven’t met her, yet.

It’s hard being an adult in today’s world and it’s harder still when you’ve got to take care of little ones while meeting all your responsibilities.

This can cause stress levels to soar.

CBD oil can help with that. [source: Healthline]

02

It Gets You Asleep

New parents, in particular, can find that their sleep levels suffer with baby waking on a regular feeding schedule and with the general stress of day-to-day life.

Fortunately, CBD oil can help restore the homeostatic levels in your body.

This can make it easier to sleep.

03

It Helps You Lose Weight

The EDS drives our feelings of hunger (among many other systems it helps regulate in the body).

When you use CBD oil to keep your EDS in balance, it naturally reduces your hunger pangs.

This helps you lose weight more easily following birth.

04

It’s Awesome For Back Pain

Almost all Americans suffer from back pain at some point in their lives but new moms more so than others, mainly, because they’ve been carrying round a large weight for the previous 9 months.
CBD oil is natural anti-inflammatory and it helps reduce the pain that your nerves can perceive too.

It’s great for back pain.

05

It’s Great For Skin Care

You can use CBD oil creams to moisturize, soften, revitalize and regenerate your skin.

CBD has also been shown to increase the elasticity of your skin and to help remove dead cells leaving your skin looking younger and healthier.

This even includes skin that has been put through the traumas of pregnancy.

06

It’s Good For Mood Improvement

This may be something to do with CBD oil being a great stress reliever but whatever the reason – countless individuals report dramatic improvements in their mood when they start taking CBD oil.

It is possible that CBD oil could help with post-natal depression but there is not enough evidence available to say that this is categorically true – you’d need to experiment and see if it worked for you.

07

It’s Great For Anxiety Too

Nobody quite knows why anxiety is on the rise but nearly 1/3 of Americans suffer from anxiety and there’s nothing quite like the arrival of a little person who is completely dependent on you to add a jolt of anxiety to your life.

CBD oil is great for dealing with anxiety and it’s one of the most common reasons for using CBD oil – to treat anxiety.

08

It Promotes Heart Health

CBD oils role in reducing inflammation and lowering stress has another knock on benefit – it’s good for your heart.

The less stress and inflammation you have; the easier it is to take care of your heart properly.

This, in turn, can also help lower your blood pressure.

09

It Reduces Oxidative Stress

This isn’t the same thing as “stress”.
Oxidative stress occurs when the body has too many free radicals present and its natural systems can’t keep up with combatting them effectively.

CBD has neuro-protective properties which enable it to combat oxidative stress whenever it arises in the body.

10

It Helps Tackle Childhood Epilepsy

This may not apply to every mom but if your child suffers from epilepsy – you should be aware that CBD oil is proven to effectively help manage seizures in children with epilepsy.

CBD & Pregancy, What’s The Deal?

We didn’t put this in our top 10 because the jury is still out as to whether it’s OK to use CBD oil during pregnancy but it’s worth noting that the EDS is particularly active during pregnancy and the body produces large amounts of natural cannabinoids which are thought to help stimulate the baby’s development and prepare its own EDS.

It seems likely that if CBD oil is deemed OK for pregnant women it could help with many of the negative symptoms of pregnancy such as cravings, back pain, mood swings, etc. but for now – please don’t try this at home.

It is also worth noting that CBD oil has a wonderful reputation for treating chronic pain and inflammation.

This isn’t a “mom specific” benefit of CBD oil but it’s fair to say that many moms may be in chronic pain from conditions that may or may not be related to pregnancy and birth.

The 5 Important Criteria For Purchasing CBD Oil

Once you have established why you want to buy your CBD oil.

The next thing to consider is the 5 key criteria for purchasing CBD oil:

Product Concentration

This is the measure of how much CBD oil is in the product. It should be listed as milligrams of CBD on the packaging. No other measure matters.

Not how much oil is in there or how much something weighs – the amount of CBD in the product in milligrams.

Don’t buy products with % concentration instead of this number unless you are sure that you understand how to calculate the total amount of CBD from that number.

Note: New users of CBD oil should start with 2-3 milligrams a day of CBD and work out over time how much is the “right dose” for them.

Ease of use

You’ll see in a minute that there are a wide variety of ways you can consume CBD oil. If you know how to vape, for example, vaping is easy – if you don’t, you might want to stick to a tincture that you take under the tongue.

Time To Take Effect

Otherwise known as “immediacy”. How fast do you need your help from the CBD oil product? Vaping is the fastest method – it starts working almost immediately, sublingual takes up to 40 minutes, topical about an hour and oral doses can take up to 2 hours before they take effect.

Taste

Some people don’t care but some very much do. Hemp flavors are quite earthy or grassy and if you can’t bear that thought – you might want to go with flavored oils or edibles that have a taste more to your liking.

It’s worth noting that if you don’t want a taste at all… CBD capsules for oral consumption are the way to go.

Price

CBD oil is not cheap and if you find anything priced at “too good to be true”; it’s too good to be true.

However, there is a lot of variation in the CBD oil market at the moment and you can definitely get better value for your money by shopping around and finding something that’s in a comfortable price bracket for you.

The clearer you are about your needs when it comes to buying CBD oil – the easier it is to buy the right product to meet those needs.

Types Of CBD Oil Products

Now that you’ve had a think about the criteria that you might apply to buying CBD oil as a mom; it’s time to think about the products available to you:

Tinctures

CBD oil tinctures are designed to be taken sublingually (which means under your tongue). They are quite fast acting, easy to use and can be used for most applications of CBD oil.

Pastes (Concentrates)

Pastes are thicker and usually made from a hemp oil base. They are designed to deliver a more concentrated dose of CBD than tinctures would.

Vape Oil

Vaping is a very popular way to take CBD oil, though we don’t recommend that you start smoking anything unless you already smoke. Vaping is ultra-fast acting and can take effect almost instantly after you inhale.

Topical Applications

That is creams and lotions containing CBD oil – if you have complaints that relate to the skin; topical applications of CBD oil are an excellent treatment but it’s worth noting that for most other uses of CBD – a topical application will not be a suitable choice.

CBD Oil Capsules

This is your CBD oil in tablet (capsule) form. They tend to contain large doses of CBD and take up to 2 hours before they kick in.

You probably wouldn’t want to start taking CBD in capsules unless you really can’t stand the taste of anything else. They’re for a more advanced user.

CBD Edibles

Just like you can get marijuana edibles, CBD oil works very well in a variety of food products.

The most common being gummies, cookies, hard candies, etc. they tend to hep if you can’t stand the taste of CBD on its own.

However, we feel that ensuring a consistent dose of CBD in each edible is very challenging and you ought to expect some variation in effectiveness with these products.

CBD Oil

Common CBD Oil Issues

CBD oil production and sale is, at the moment, unregulated. It’s important to know this because it means that you can then avoid scams and issues which are, sadly, all too common online.

You need to know what to look out for when you go about purchasing your CBD products so that you get products that help you as a mom rather than drain your wallet without a return.

Should Be Made From Industrial Hemp

Firstly, this ensures that the product will contain no more than 0.3% THC and is, thus, legal everywhere in the country.

If the product is made from marijuana rather than hemp – you must live in a state where the sale of such products is legal otherwise you will risk going to jail.

Not a good idea.

Should Be Tested by 3rd Party Laboratory

All your CBD products should have been tested to ensure that they don’t have any mold, heavy metals or other substances hazardous to human health in them.

To find out, ask for a certificate of analysis from the company you’re buying your CBD oil from and don’t be afraid to call the certification provider to make sure it’s legit.

GMP Certification Is Good

There is no “industry standard” for CBD oil at the moment.

However, the next best thing is “Good Manufacturing Practices” or GMP. They, to some extent, assure that your CBD products have been produced in a hygienic fashion with an eye on quality control.

It’s not perfect but it’s better than nothing.

Look for the GMP logo on the CBD supplier’s products and site.

Health Claims Should Be Verifiable

There is no doubt that CBD oil may do a lot of good.

However, it’s not a panacea and some of the claims made for CBD oil are beyond outrageous.

Always pay attention to the language that a manufacturer uses and make sure that you can verify any claims they make before you buy your CBD oil.

Sadly, for now, there’s no evidence that CBD oil can cure cancer or help regrow limbs. Don’t be misled into thinking otherwise.

Check Customer Reviews

You need to be careful around customer reviews as they can be misleading but try to ensure that the company’s product pages contain reviews from verified customers – read them and see what they say.

Then Google the company’s name and “reviews” and see what people are saying about them elsewhere online.

Get a full, clear picture of the company’s reputation before you hand them your money.

Making Your CBD Oil Purchasing Decision

Let’s just run through that quickly one more time to help you buy CBD oil with confidence:

Understand Your CBD Basics

If you know how a medicine or supplement works in your body and how it is metabolized you can make a more informed decision about what to put in your body (and what not to put in it too).

Know The Benefits That You’re Looking For From CBD Oil

CBD is not a magic remedy for everything. It has been shown to work well for certain symptoms and illnesses; with other health issues, it does nothing.

What benefits do you want from CBD oil?

What will it look like if CBD oil delivers those benefits?

This is also helpful in evaluation the value you get from your purchase.

Work Out The Buying Criteria That Matter To You

What are the important points for you from taste, price, concentration, ease of use and speed of onset?

This helps you decide which products simply won’t meet your needs and you can eliminate them from your review.

Choose The Product Type That Suits Your Needs

There are plenty of choice to take your CBD oil in – gummies, vape oils, capsules, tinctures, pastes, topical solutions, etc. what is going to be the best solution for your health needs?

Don’t buy a cream for epileptic seizures.

It might sound obvious now, but we know it’s easy to forget if you don’t spend some time really thinking about what you need.

Avoid Common Industry Issues and Scams

CBD oil sale is still unregulated.

Don’t be pulled in by glossy adverts and amazing promises of miracles – check out the product you’re buying.

Make sure it’s made from hemp oil, that it’s been properly lab tested for quality and safety, that your supplier is using best manufacturing practices and that their customers are happy with their products.

Caveat Emptor.

CBD is not cheap. It’s even more expensive when you buy something that doesn’t work.

Make Your Purchase

Moms, you’re busy people. There comes a time when you need to turn your research into action.

So, don’t be afraid to get out your wallet and make a purchasing decision.

You cannot reap the benefits of CBD oil without buying some CBD oil.

That’s 100% certain.
