It’s fair to say that not everyone is willing to give up meat, just yet. But it’s also true to say that there are many new forms of meat on the horizon which won’t be from animal farming.
There will be plant-based meat (like these yummy plant burgers), cultivated meat (the future of pet food, perhaps?) and fermented proteins too.
Why Does It Matter?
Well, even if you’re not eating a plant-based diet, there’s a good reason to reduce meat consumption – the carbon emissions that it causes.
And that’s where the Good Food Institute (GFI) comes in.
They’re dedicated to making the world’s diet less dependent on animal meat and more on other forms of meat.
This may even help stave off the next pandemic as it would dramatically reduce zoonotic disease potential too.
We think that’s enough reason for everyone to support the work of the GFI and to try and reduce their own animal meat consumption, at least a little.
