We’re all fed up with being stuck indoors this year. So, it’s no surprise that millions of us are heading outdoors to explore the natural world around us where we can socially distance and enjoy the planet. It’s predicted that visits to U.S. National Parks next year will set records!
The problem is that many people don’t know how to behave outdoors anymore.
They weren’t taught at school and that’s where #RecreateResponsibly comes in.
They’ve put together some simple and practical guidelines that can help you get the most out of outdoor spaces without damaging them or the people in them.
They have seven simple rules that make it easy to remember what to do:
- Know before you go
- Practice physical distancing
- Plan ahead
- Play it safe
- Explore locally
- Leave no trace
- And… Build an inclusive outdoors
If you’re a bit stuck on how to go about that, don’t worry – they’ve also put together a handy guide on how to do it.
You can download that guide here.
Then you might want to take a look at our guide to the National Parks here to get an idea where you might go to put these guidelines into practice.
