We love clever design like the “sweat yourself shop”.
In fact, recently we’ve praised an intelligent beehive, origami unlocking the secrets of mathematics and awesome sustainable fabrics.
But we think this new concept of manufacturing and retail, the “Sweat-Yourself-Shop,” has the potential to revolutionize what we buy and how we shop.
Freitag And Swiss Pragmatism
Freitag is a designer bag brand with a penchant for using recycled tarpaulin in their designs.
Now, in their Zurich shop, they’ve created a “micro-factory” in which their customers can customize their own bags any way that they please.
They’ve nicknamed it the “sweat-yourself-shop” because of the industry’s unpleasant associations with sweatshops.
No Sweat Required
But there’s nothing unpleasant about making your own bag in the luxurious retail premises of Freitag.
This idea is so clever that we’d expect to see other industries copying it soon.
After all, why pay for labor if your customers are happy to provide it in exchange for receiving a truly bespoke product?
This is truly sustainable retail.
