What if I told you about a way you could have a vegan friendly wonderful wine shipped right to your door?
Popular wine subscription-box service Winc has launched a new vegan wine brand called The Wonderful Wine Co.
Their slogan is Clean Wine For Better Living. For paleo people, party people and everyone in between.
As a newly minted vegan and also a wine lover there’s nothing more disappointing than hearing about “fining.”
Fining is a process in wine-making “where a substance (fining agent) is added to the wine to create an adsorbent, enzymatic or ionic bond with the suspended particles, producing larger molecules and larger particles that will precipitate out of the wine more readily and rapidly.” [source: wikipedia]
A variety of fining agents are used and they can range from egg whites to fish bladders. Gross.
On a positive note, the wine-making industry as a whole has been moving away from animal-based fining methods as it gets more cost-prohibitive.
“We set out to craft transparent products that you can feel good about reaching for,” Brian Smith (Wonderful Wine co-founder) told Forbes. “Wonderful Wine Co. is the sum of all parts, and our commitment to doing the right thing affects every decision we make, from our sustainable winemaking practices to our eco-friendly packaging and production methods.” Brian Smith, Wonderful Wine Co.
There are currently four wines available: an Argentine Malbec, aFrench Rosé, a Frency White, and a Malvasia Bianca.”
